The Anti-Corruption Court extended Samvel Karapetyan's pretrial detention for another 30 days
October 16, 2025
Last night, the Anti-Corruption Court extended Samvel Karapetyan's pretrial detention for another 30 days. This means his detention has been extended until November 18.

In my opinion, the authorities' plan is as follows: by that time, the investigators and prosecutors will have sent at least part of Samvel Karapetyan's case—the episode related to the interview—to court. Afterward, the trial will begin, and the court will attempt to uphold the pretrial detention measure.

Of course, Karapetyan's case will not be processed in the same expedited manner as Bishop Mikael's. The latter was tried hastily to prevent him from participating in the elections as a single candidate for the united forces. In Karapetyan's case, this factor is absent, since he holds another citizenship in addition to his citizenship of the Republic of Armenia.

Consequently, the Karapetyan trial will not proceed quickly; it will drag on until it results in a final verdict with a prison sentence.

My conclusion remains the same: Nikol Pashinyan clearly knows what he wants and what he's doing.
The only question is whether the opposition knows what they want, when they want it, and with whom.

I know what needs to be done. All that's left is to get together, talk, and do it.
