A Blow to the Constitutional Order: Pashinyan Officially Turned the Church Issue Political
In this episode, I analyze Nikol Pashinyan's recent move, by which he, for the first time in an official capacity - as Prime Minister - signed a document with members of the clergy and officially moved the church issue into the political arena. This is no longer an action within the scope of personal faith or a civic stance, but direct interference by the state power in the internal affairs of a religious institution.
We discuss why this move creates a constitutional threat, what consequences it may have for church - state relations, and why the topic of the church is becoming one of the main political agendas of the upcoming elections.
