The lie has been exposed: Nikol's struggle is not aimed at purifying the Church.
"We expect the Catholicos to voluntarily resign, and then it will be possible to organize new elections." Bishops
A group of bishops of the Armenian Apostolic Church has issued a new statement calling on Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II to voluntarily resign.
"We expect Catholicos Karekin II, out of love for our Church and our people, to soberly assess the situation, not to lead our people and our Church into unnecessary upheaval, to voluntarily resign, and then it will be possible to organize new elections," reads the statement, published in the Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper, owned by the Prime Minister's family.
Eight of the ten bishops who issued this statement were recently received by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
They released a statement to pro-government media outlets in which the bishops claimed that the authenticity of the videos attributed to Archbishop Arshak Khachatryan had been confirmed by forensic analysis, and that the Catholicos of All Armenians "is trying at all costs to conceal Arshak's blasphemous act."
Today, they issued another statement: "We will not be purified if we continue to conceal, justify, and glorify sin."
"The arrogant and cynical glorification of sin by some is an attempt to silence the undeniable demand for inevitable purification," the statement, published on the websites, reads.
