Trump’s Path and the Peace Text Will Be Renegotiated: We Can Do It
August 20, 2025

From the negotiations taking place in the United States between Trump, Zelensky, NATO and EU leaders, it becomes clear that even amid this brutal war — against the backdrop of sharp confrontation between Russia and Ukraine — with the mediation of third parties, Putin agreed that Ukraine must receive security guarantees equivalent to Article 5 of the NATO Charter.

Yes, Ukraine is in an extremely difficult situation today. However, thanks to proper negotiation tactics and effective cooperation with the West, it is possible to obtain security guarantees in the context of conflict resolution.

And what do we have?
Armenia has not received any security guarantees, since — at Azerbaijan’s request — negotiations were transferred to a bilateral format without the participation of mediators. Whereas Ukraine insisted to the very end on the involvement of mediators and on the collective West standing by its side throughout the negotiation process. As a result, in the event of peace being established, Ukraine will secure security guarantees precisely with their support.

This fundamental mistake made by the Armenian authorities, about which I have repeatedly warned and consistently spoken, has today led to the situation where we are deprived of any security guarantees. Nevertheless, the authorities continue to proclaim “peace,” ignoring the fact that substantively it does not exist.

I assure you, Armenia can obtain clear security guarantees both from Azerbaijan and Turkey and achieve genuine peace — not the one being imposed on us. However, for that, it is necessary to change the current authorities. Therefore, first we will change the authorities, and then we will put an end to this endless nightmare imposed upon us.
