We should not look forward to the opening of the border with Turkey with enthusiasm, as it will not bring anything good to Armenia. If we compare the Republic of Armenia with the Republic of Georgia — even considering that Georgia has access to the sea, is a transit hub, and receives significant income from this — we will understand that our economic situation is not so bad.
However, they do not tell us this, in order to keep us dependent on the idea that the closed border with Turkey is the cause of all our problems, and that as soon as the border opens, everyone will live well. In reality, if the border with Turkey is opened, those responsible for our country's security will not be able to withstand the arising challenges.
Armenia hasn't done its "homework" before the opening of this border. It was necessary to adopt relevant laws in advance, approve restrictions, and take concrete security steps.
And if the Armenian authorities are negotiating the opening of the border today, they should have taken all these measures even before the start of the negotiations. But now nothing is being done, because the authorities simply do not know what exactly needs to be done — they elementarily do not understand.
