But I assure you: it is impossible to seize ENA without violating the Constitution and laws of the Republic of Armenia, as well as the country’s international obligations.
How did this process begin?
At the outset, Samvel Karapetyan was threatened — told not to defend the sacred values of the Armenian people, namely the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, or else he would lose ENA.
In response, he said: “I don’t give a damn about them or their ENA.”
This clearly showed that he could not be blackmailed into abandoning the Armenian Apostolic Church, our national values, and our identity.
That statement has since been manipulated by the Prime Minister and other officials, who claimed that Karapetyan expressed disregard for a strategically important enterprise. Based on that interpretation, they are now attempting to justify nationalization — in other words, violating the fundamental right to private property and forcefully seizing an individual’s lawful assets.
Let me underscore: Nikol Pashinyan does not even have a competent legal advisor to explain that seizing ENA would have purely negative consequences for our country’s economy, investment climate, and energy security.
And even if they manage to seize it — it's obvious that we will return the property to its rightful owner, and those responsible for the illegal act will be held accountable.
